The artwork is done in the style of an old Pichwai. This Pichwai painting is highly unusual because it represents Srinathji (Krishna) in his traditional clothing. Srinathji is depicted with his left hand elevated, as though he lifted Govardhana hill to save the people of Vraja from Indra's wrath, as recounted in Bhagavatam, one of the eighteen Puranas and one of the most authoritative. He is conceived as a seven-year-old kid. His right hand sits on his hip, but it is rarely visible since it is hidden by the costly jewellery he wears. In this Shrinathji pichwai painting the lord is seen wearing what looks to be a flowing garment. He wears a peacock feather cap and holds lotus flowers with long stems in his right hand, which looks to be resting on a stick-like armrest. His long hair is braided in a flowing braid with flowers. His sagging, large eyes appear to be staring down (probably at the Vraja people shaded by the hill he is supporting). He has a slight, almost taunting smirk on his lips, most likely anticipating Indra's displeasure. Srinath combines the terms "Sri" and "Nath." Sri is an abbreviation for Lakshmi (the consort of Lord Vishnu or Krishna), and Nath is an abbreviation for Master. The topic of Pichwai paintings is Srinathji, and the scenes drawn are usually from Srinathji's loving games in Vrindavan with Gopis and cowherds.
