The Shankh is among the most auspicious things to arise from the sea during the ksheera sagara samudra manthan, as per Vedic texts. As a result, it is revered as the brother of Goddess Lakshmi, the wealth-ruler. The Shankh is held by the majority of the Gods and Goddesses.
