The Sanskrit name for a ceremonial bell used in Hinduistic religious rituals is Ghanta Or Bell. It is thought that the sound made when the bell rings is auspicious. In most Hindu temples, there is a single metal bell hanging at the entrance. Devotees ring the bell as they enter the temple, which is an important step in getting ready for a darshan. Priests may also ring a bell as part of a Pujan or Yachna ritual, such as when they wave candles or burn incense in front of a deity, bathe them, or present them with food or flowers.
